Serving freshmen to post-docs from across Johns Hopkins University, FastForward U provides mentorship, programming, funding and space to cultivate extracurricular interest in innovation
Located near Johns Hopkins’ schools of arts and sciences, education and engineering, FastForward U – Homewood will house workshops and resources—including a makerspace managed by the Whiting School of Engineering—that enable students to grow ideas, build ventures and understand business.

FastForward U General Information:
A collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment open to all Johns Hopkins students, FastForward U provides training and resources to empower emerging student entrepreneurs to develop ideas and disruptive technologies into successful startups.
From cloud-based pathology platforms and custom manufacturing technologies to fashionable backpacks for photographers and online recruiting platforms, Johns Hopkins students develop an array of promising technologies and products inside and with the support of these student spaces.
Serving freshmen to post-docs from all JHU schools, FastForward U offers student entrepreneurs mentorship, programming, space and funding, including:
- Funding opportunities providing grants between $500 and $10,000 to help students test ideas and build ventures
- Educational and social events that build community and provide skills for success
- Innovation hubs that give students dedicated space to explore ideas and build ventures
- Mentorship and one-on-one guidance via staff and our extensive network of experts and experienced entrepreneurs
